When this 87 442 arrived, it came in for a tune-up and some minor paint and body touch-ups. The further we looked into the body and paint needs it became more and more apparent that touching it up was not the solution as too many problems had been covered up by a previous shop. The frame was badly bent and the body had not been repaired correctly from whatever accident it had been in. When we told the owner of our findings, his response was that too many of these had ended up in the junk yard and that we should save this one. The vehicle was fitted with a new frame and body panels, all but the hood, roof and right door. The new panels were a lucky NOS find due to a source that the customer knew. Rust in the bodies under structure was repaired and much of the interior was replaced as well as a set of reconditioned wheels. After this ¾ restoration, what the owner received was pretty much a new 1987 442. Oh, and she finally got that tune-up that was needed.
