1955 MB 300SL Gullwing

1955 Gullwing

This car was painted a violet metallic which Mercedes had only used on one Gullwing. For that reason, a paint formula was never recorded. On the owners way across the country, a tire blew out and did extensive damage to the side of the car. Working with no formula, our painter mixed from scratch and matched the paint dead on.

The owner acquired this car before he got married and he and his wife took it on their honeymoon. It was restored in the early 80’s. In the 90’s, he took the motor out to rebuild it. Life happens and years past. The owner finished the motor and wanted us to install it and repair and paint the body. After the car was finished, the owner took it to the 300SL Nationals and won best of show.
